Maharashtra to Possibly Appeal 2006 Mumbai Train Blast Acquittal

The Bombay High Court acquitted all 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts case on an unspecified date. The Maharashtra government, after reviewing the court's order, may challenge the acquittal. The court cited insufficient evidence and failure to prove charges, including the type of bombs used. The blasts on 11th July 2006 killed over 180 people. CM Devendra Fadnavis assured victims' families of swift legal action and expert consultation. State Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule confirmed the government's intention to assess the legal merits before proceeding.
Why it's important: The acquittal of the 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts case necessitates a review to ensure justice for the victims and uphold the rule of law.
